We were recounting stories in the Festival Orchestra rehearsal hall to representatives of the media, in the company of our partners and friends, about the experiences of the children participating in the DancingOnTheSquare project and what we learned.
During our work we heard the story of a girl who cannot blow into her flute as if she was blowing out a birthday candle because she hasn’t had a birthday cake yet; or of a young teenager who doesn’t want to eat breaded meat because he never sees hot meals at home (instead they generally eat crisps and energy drinks); or of a small boy who doesn’t know what a bedtime story is since he doesn’t have books.
We cannot resolve the “don’t haves” and the “never hads” but we would like to counter them with our own means.
